Driver-Assistant Training
Driving is only part of the Job
our drivers must meet the needs of the PASSENGER.
A vital part of program is to ensure that our Driver-Assistants not only have an empathy towards those with medical difficulties and the elderly, but that they are properly trained to understand and appreciate the problems of their passengers and have the knowledge to correctly use the all the safety equipment necessary to ensure security and comfort during the journey.
What qualifications / training do our drivers have ??

Have at least 10 years driving experience

Our drivers are gender balanced

They must meet the legal requirements for the type of vehicle they are driving with no more than 6 points against them.

Must comply with the requirements of a Level 2 Criminal Records Review Act including those related to access to vulnerable persons (Handicapped, (Medically or Physically} Elderly, Hospitalized)

They must have English as their first language or produce evidence of completing Grade 12 English or passed a recognized English proficiency test.

While on duty comply with the companies Dress Code

They must have completed comprehensive training courses in First Aid, Driving with Finesse and Transporting People with Disabilities.and will have regular refresher courses.:- Training
All drivers will undergo specific training and will be trained in Advanced Driving & Collision Avoidance and awareness of the needs of medical patients, the disabled and the elderly - including :
- Complete recognized First Aid training.
- Guidance on transporting people with disability issues
- Caring for a disabled child
- Action for Blind people information
- Older people and their transport needs.
- Safety of passengers in wheelchairs
- in-vehicle security during transit,
- Wheelchair clamps - user instructions
- Dementia / Sensory Restrictions
- Young People with Learning Difficulties and Physical Disabilities.
- Agree as part their employment contract to accept Assist Dogs in their vehicle
